這段文字有許多訊息在內，例如為何要提摩太趕急到來羅馬？

為此作出了牧會的一些調配。也舉例當時在以弗所遇到亞歷山大，因為宣講耶穌得贖拯救之道，就無意中破壞了他經商發財的機會，引來麻煩不斷，提醒小心。可是，雖然在無意間得罪了人，也同時是個機會，將福音的內容讓更多外邦人明白，妁至相信而得救。而自己更在此明白，在為神傳道，神也會在天國為他留一席位，也留他永存的地榮耀作為冠冕。

為什麼要提摩太趕急到來？按文中的表達，當中可以猜測的情況： 提摩太受到信心的創傷。到他身邊是為了保存這位弟兄，如同親兒子的，能在他愛護和指導之下，重拾信心。

這不是師徒之間的關係，是真性情的關愛。這種情懷只能出現在他們之間，那是互碰而出的火花，很美。
