1. After these things I looked, and behold, a door opened in heaven; and the first voice that I heard was as if a trumpet were speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you the things that must take place after these things.”
2. And immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was set in heaven, and One was sitting on the throne.
3. And He Who was sitting was in appearance like a jasper stone and a sardius stone; and a rainbow was around the throne, like an emerald in its appearance.
4. And around the throne were twenty-four thrones; and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white garments; and they had on their heads golden crowns.
5. And proceeding from the throne were lightnings and thunders and voices; and seven lamps of fire, which are the seven spirits of God, were burning before the throne.
6. And before the throne was a sea of glass, like crystal. And around the throne and over the throne were four living creatures, full of eyes before and behind;
7. And the first living creature was like a lion, and the second living creature was like a bull, and the third living creature had the face of a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle.
8. And each of the four living creatures had six wings respectively; and around and within they were full of eyes; and day and night they cease not saying, “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was, and Who is, and Who is to come.”
9. And when the living creatures give glory and honor and thanksgiving to Him Who sits on the throne, Who lives into the ages of eternity,
10. The twenty-four elders fall down before Him Who sits on the throne; and they worship Him Who lives into the ages of eternity, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
11. “Worthy are You, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power because You did create all things, and for Your will they were created and exist.” (A Faithful Version)

1. 說完了上述那些事，我看到上天有扇門打開。聽到有聲音，像號角般，說：進前來，給你看一些以後必會發生的事。

2. 就立時之間，看到了一位靈體，坐寶座上，位於穹蒼之中。

3. 那寶座，是用多種顏色的碧玉和紅寶石組成，有彩虹圍繞，外表像是綠寶石的結晶。

4. 圍繞這寶座，是二十四個王座，坐著24位長老，穿著白衣，頭帶金冠。

5. 有閃電、雷轟等聲音從寶座發出，七盞燈在寶座前點著，代表神的七靈。

6. 寶座前是一片玻璃海，如同水晶。寶座的周圍和寶座之上，有四活物，前後滿是眼睛。

7. 四活物中有一個形像獅子，第二個像公牛，第三個有僕人的臉，第四個像飛鷹。

8. 四活物各有六個翅膀。它裡外都佈滿眼睛，從早到晚都不停地說：聖哉！聖哉！聖哉！全能的主，昔在、今在、將會到來的那位。

9. 當這四活物說出榮耀、尊貴以及感謝，都是指著那位坐在寶座上、又是活到永恆的，

10. 二十四位長老便會立時向坐在寶座上那位俯身下拜，那位活到永恆，同時把頭上的冠冕放在寶座前，說：

11. 主，你是配得，那榮耀、尊貴和權柄的，因你創造了萬物，是按你旨意成就並且存留。

約翰聽完了那白衣人說那七所教會當中有二種信仰的不同表現，人也有二種不同的選擇，他提出了那種選擇更為合乎神與人的正常關係。

之後，見到的，是人間很熟識的場景，那是人間帝王匠般的宮殿，以金碧輝煌(中國式的形容)，它的存在不同於人類那種帝王存在的方式，那是超然不與物同。有早期的釋經以此四活物去形容耶穌，它的形象也許有意義，不在此解釋，不過這些活物更像是四大天王，輛助這靈體。又有24長老，形同朝庭上的臣子，行對王上尊敬的禮儀，除冕服拜。一邊是四活物口中大聲說聖哉！下邊的臣子就回應：你是配得。

這樣的描述，是猶太人一直心儀於自己有日能像外邦人一樣，有王的管活。他們的祖先，很早就有這樣的要求，神透過先知，告訴當時的以色列人，有王的後果是以後代的福址去交換。意思是你現在投誠會過得好，只是你子孫的將來，會因為今日的決定，成了終物奴隸。這樣的交易，要不要？當時的人很短視，選擇了要王。今日的人，放棄了自我成長，大多認為有領袖才成，於是有許多人，不擇手段要成為領袖，而最有效的方法：金錢利益，那是萬試萬靈。

今日藉耶穌信神的，都了解神不會以這種形式出現，為何約翰會看到這情況？相信只有一種可能，是讓以色列人了解，神，就如人間的王，比之更為超越。
