43. And after two days, He departed from there and went into Galilee;
44. For Jesus Himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
45. Therefore, when He came into Galilee, the Galileans received Him, having seen all the things that He did in Jerusalem during the feast, for they also had gone to the feast.
46. Then Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee, where He had made the water become wine. And there was a certain royal official in Capernaum whose son was sick.
47. When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and asked Him if He would come down and heal his son; for he was about to die.
48. Therefore, Jesus said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders, you will not believe at all.”
49. The royal official said to Him, “Sir, come down before my little child dies.”
50. Jesus said to him, “Go; your son shall live.” And the man believed the word that Jesus said to him and went away.
51. Now as he was going down to his house, his servants met him and reported, saying, “Your child is alive and well.”
52. Then he inquired of them at what hour he began to improve. And they said to him, “Yesterday, at the seventh hour, the fever left him.”
53. Therefore, the father knew that it was at the hour that Jesus said to him, “Your son shall live.” And he himself believed and his whole household.

43. 二天過後，耶穌離開往加利利去。

44. 耶穌確實一件事，自己家鄉不尊重先知。

45. 因為這個緣因，耶穌選擇到加利利。當時有加利利人來接待，這些人是在耶路撒冷的節期見過耶穌行過事跡的。

46. 耶穌再次來到加利利的迦拿，是曾經以水變酒那個地方。剛巧有一位在迦百農任職的官長，他的兒子正在發病。

47. 聽到耶穌從猶太地回到加利利，便來見他，問耶穌可不可以去醫治他快要死的兒子。

48. 耶穌隨即回應：非要看到神蹟奇事，才會相信。

49. 這位長官回說：先生，趁孩子仍在，求你趕快去看他。

50. 耶穌說：這就去吧！你兒子能活下來。那人相信，就一起回家了。

51. 耶穌到了長官的住處，有僕人出迎，回報主人，說：孩子現在活得好好的。

52. 於是問僕人，兒子是在什麼時候好轉過來。回說：是昨日第七個時段，燒熱就退去。

53. 這父親便知曉，正是耶穌回應他兒子活過來的那個時間。他和全家都因這經歷信了。

54. 這是耶穌從猶太地回到加利利之後所行的第二件奇事。

約翰記載這事，是實在發生的事。它記載了耶穌當時心境：明白出身地的人不相信他。於是選擇了到加利利，一處離他家鄉不遠，卻在那裡變水為酒的地方：迦拿。

當時這位在迦百農任職的長官，他兒子病了，就去找耶穌看病，這段記述很有意思。
這長官因何會去找耶穌？這個必然與迦拿水變酒的事件被傳開有關，因為事件記述時，提出二種情況，1.是家鄉的人不信耶穌，2.水變酒這事發生在迦拿，迦百農長官的兒子病了。

這長官在知道耶穌在的時候便去找他，是基於一個觀念，耶穌有一般人沒有的能力，因為兒子病了。為父的擔心，想盡快盡早醫好是正常的反應。此時，耶穌與長官的對話在這樣的背景之下，便顯得有意思。

47. 聽到耶穌從猶太地回到加利利，便來見他，問耶穌可不可以去醫治他快要死的兒子。

48. 耶穌隨即回應：非要看到神蹟奇事，才會相信。

49. 這位長官回說：先生，趁孩子仍在，求你趕快去看他。

50. 耶穌說：這就去吧！你兒子活下來了。那人相信，就一起回家了。

如果沒有前因，就不明白48節耶穌說話的意思。當中沒有直白說出的是：長官因為知道耶穌水變酒的事，他不去求醫，而是去求神醫。那麼： 非要看到神蹟奇事，才會相信，就顯出其意思來。

而50節，這對話更有意思： 你兒子活下來了。這是神蹟？是遙遠發功？都不是。按記載所有神蹟奇事的發生都有當事人在場。這個沒有。只是，52節：於是問僕人，兒子是在什麼時候好轉過來。回說：是昨日第七個時段，燒熱就退去。那是說，耶穌本應有段與長官對話沒有被約翰記下。就產生了中間發生過的情節，在對話中沒有出現而產生不連貫的意思出現。

這兒子患了什麼病？發燒。怎麼好了？有人用方法處理，而且經過了二天的時間，那是從迦百農去迦拿的時間是一天路程，發病經過二天，兒子身體強壯早就好了。

這段記載很有意思，耶穌說出一般人求神問福的心態，就連常識都放棄不用。
