10. But after His brothers had gone up then Jesus also went up to the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. 11. As a result, the Jews were seeking Him at the feast, and said, “Where is He?” 12. Now there was much debating about Him among the people. Some said, “He is a good Man.” But others said, “No, but He is deceiving the people.” 13. However, no one spoke publicly about Him for fear of the Jews. 14. But then, about the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and was teaching. 15. And the Jews were amazed, saying, “How does this Man know letters, having never been schooled?” 16. Jesus answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His Who sent Me. 17. If anyone desires to do His will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it is from God, or whether I speak from My own self. 18. The one who speaks of himself is seeking his own glory; but He Who seeks the glory of Him Who sent Him is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. 19. Did not Moses give you the law, and not one of you is practicing the law? Why do you seek to kill Me?” 20. The people answered and said, “You have a demon. Who is seeking to kill You?” 21. Jesus answered and said to them, “I did one work, and you were all amazed. 22. Now then, Moses gave you circumcision— not that it was from Moses, but from the fathers—and on the Sabbath you circumcise a man. 23. If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with Me because I made a man entirely whole on the Sabbath? 24. Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” (A Faithful Version)
10. 耶穌的兄弟去赴節期,耶穌也跟著去了,不是明去,是暗地裡去。
11. 在節期當中,猶太人要尋獲耶穌卻尋不著,結果只能追問:人究竟在哪裡?”
12. 當中有不同意見,就爭論起來,有人說:耶穌是好人;有人說:不是,他騙人。
13. 只是,大家都不敢公然去談論這個耶穌,因為怕猶太人。
14. 節期過了一半,耶穌這時才上聖殿去作教導。
15. 猶太人都感到希奇,問:這個人沒上過我們的學校,怎會懂得書卷的事?”
16. 耶穌回應:我的教導不屬我自己,是屬於那差我來的。
17. 人若渴望去行出來,是知道這教導是什麼,就不會計較這教導是出於神,或是我說。
18. 一個人若說的是自己想要說的,是尋索自己的榮耀。對於那一心去尋求差來者榮耀的人,這人心裡不會做出不義的事。
19. 摩西沒有傳你們律法嗎?你們無人遵守。好奇為什麼想要殺我?
20. 眾人回應:是你身有惡魔,是這惡魔想殺你。
21. 耶穌回說:我只做了一件事,是你們每人就都感到希奇而已。
22. 割禮是摩西傳給你們,事實不是摩西,乃從先祖開始,後發展到在安息日給行割禮。
23. 為此,有人在安息日接受割禮,若這樣沒有違背摩西的律法,我在安息日讓人得以痊癒,你們這些人為何向我發怒?
24.不要按外在表面這現象來作判決,而是要選擇內中的事實作出公正的判斷。
耶穌不曾上過學校,這個當然可以理解。(v.15)
人犯事不是神或耶穌,是自己心中的惡 (v.20),這些人當時只當耶穌是人。
耶穌說不上去,卻上去了。為什麼?相信是不想與他兄弟一起,免得為他帶來麻煩,這點耶穌有自知之明。等到節期高峰過後,耶穌上聖殿去教導,相信是盡可能去引導猶太人,改變既有傳統領受,去接受新生事物,它是合情合理的事,從史實中引證說明。
現實是人都適應在習慣之中,這種習慣會是好事,特別在制度上,好的制度令社會和諧。只是被人有心去破壞,這制度成了害人之物。當面對人利用權力,任意解釋這制度為公改成為私之用,民眾應當警覺,繼而分辨,再作出可行的方法,更正過來。耶穌就是用制度給予做人處事的原則。
耶穌當時舉出一個例子,為什麼安息日可以行割禮,他在安息叫人痊癒,就是在畢士大池所做那件事,二者都是在做增強信心的事。前者是確立這受禮之人的信心,後者是對自己失去信心的人,重拾信心,同樣的道理,為何不可?
這段記述最精彩的地方,還是最後說的一句話:不要按外在表面這現象來作判決,而是要選擇內中的事實作出公正的判斷。這是現今社會有同一現象出現的緣由,許多人看事件表面,就作出對錯的判斷,因為只基於幾個正面的用詞,例如人權、公義。發起做不義的不去指責,還去維護犯事的,因為自己受影響,就指責對方而不指責自己的領袖,這叫自私,自己沒有公理不作分辨,這種不是按事實是按表面的習慣,是鐵一般的事實。
試看今日以巴之戰,巴勒斯坦人是基於一個怎樣的理由,去支持在一個民間音樂會去擄人,禁錮、傷害甚至殺死。這些人辯說的理由,是以色列要求交回人質,不遂,發起了爭戰,這時傷害到自身利益,便出口叫停,卻不叫去釋放人質,不叫自私叫什麼。
耶穌最尾說出人的現象,不是一句只對猶太人說,也不是只針對割禮的事,是人如何選擇。又為何如此選擇的真正緣由。不去分辨事件的真正原因,做錯事帶來的後果可以很大,而他們的信心在於被習慣,因為沒有生存的信心。耶穌說:我就是生命的糧,明白就知道可行,也必有信心。
