13. They brought him who was once blind to the Pharisees. 14. Now it was the Sabbath when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes. 15. Therefore, the Pharisees in turn also asked him how he had received sight. And he said to them, “He put clay on my eyes, and I washed; and now I see.” 16. Then some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God because He does not keep the Sabbath.” Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such miracles?” And there was a division among them. 17. They said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him since He opened your eyes?” And he said, “He is a prophet.” 18. However, the Jews did not believe this about him, that he was blind and had received sight, until they called the parents of the one who had received sight. 19. And they asked them, saying, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?” 20. His parents answered them and said, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind. 21. But how he now sees, we do not know; or who opened his eyes, we do not know. He is of age; ask him. He will speak for himself.” 22. His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed among themselves that if anyone confessed Him to be the Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue. 23. 13. 當中有人把這曾經眼瞎的,帶到法利賽人面前。
14. 當日是安息日。耶穌在這日,和了泥讓他眼晴開了。
15. 法利賽人輪番去問這人,是如何得看見,他回說:有人把泥抹在我的眼睛上,叫去沖洗,便立時得看見了。
16. 法利賽人當中有說:這個人沒有遵守安息日的規條,相信不是神差來。另一人說:罪人可以行出這等奇事嗎?他們為此爭論不休。
17. 有人此時去問那瞎子:這人既然開你的眼睛,你說說,是什麼人?瞎子回應:是先知。
18. 只是猶太人不信,只是,他的眼瞎卻實恢復視力,便請他的父母到來,二位視力都正常。
19. 他們當面問這對夫婦:是你的兒子?生來瞎眼?怎麼現在能看見?
20. 他父母回說:是我的兒子,生來就瞎眼。
21. 至於他現在能看見,這個卻不清楚。是誰恢復他的視力也不知道。他都成年了,你問他好了。
22. 他的父母用這方式回應,因為怕中了猶太人的計。原來他們早己有了共識,有人承認這人是基督,就將他趕出會堂。
23. 父母只能說:他已經成年,你問他吧。
耶穌行的神蹟奇事,按約翰的記述,都有一種轉化的意義蘊含其中。這位天生眼瞎按肉體是眼瞎,只是心靈的慧眼卻是可以被耶穌復甦過來。人若能從天生眼瞎回復視力,是有理性的是無法想象。因為不信神吹了一口氣在人裡面,因此不信人是有[靈]的活人。
於是法利賽人要確認這事的真偽,便找來當事人,要問出個究竟來。為要全盤了解,連他的父母都請來,問個究竟。只是問不出個所以然。因為神蹟是個事實卻無法證明的事。耶穌行的神蹟是說明有種力量,能改變人對既有的事物觀感,是一個全新的體會。因此,是可以用人的理性去解釋,雖然是超乎自然的定律,是可以用[心靈]去理解。
理性真的不能超越?以科學為例,科學就是一重能超乎理性又需要理性的學問。科學是從自然界中觀察,從中分辨,摸出個原則,將這原則重現出來。信耶穌也許就是這樣的過程。
耶穌常挑戰當代的猶太人,叫他們要分辨,人有二面,肉體和精神。肉體是軟弱,心靈卻是有無窮的能量。這能量可以用科學的探究精神,找出神如何與人相處的原則,這原則就是愛。愛有什麼用?當人運用愛的原則,它可以用來赦免,用來創造,用來自處,用以助人,用來分辨是非,用以自強,用來建立昇開創等等,看似神乎其技卻是真真實實。
當時的猶太人沒有愛,因為求生不能用愛心 (認為這不行),就按情慾辦事待人,他自己亂,別人也跟著亂。他們不明神是愛,更不明耶穌為愛而被差,因此耶穌說猶太人不認識神。他們的觀念中只有守或不守法,是基於團結為由。
信神因為有愛,就不會犯法,也不死守,人若心中有愛,愛叫人自控自我約制,也許會犯錯,這是成長中必遇,總不會犯罪。有愛的人生無懼,無懼的態度明理,明白就曉得進退,這樣的人生,就有永恆良善的價值。它在對抗世界,卻保護了自己,愛產生力量。當時或者是今日的人,都不相信這是可行。
這眼瞎人的父母,看到自己兒子轉變,就有了信念,也心存智慧,懂分辨,就知如何回應法利賽人的質詢。她說:我兒子是瞎,他成年了,要問就去問他。(v.20-23),他兒子有了視力,他的父母感受到,人有了一份通透的視力就能分辨,看得清,心中不懼,就明白如何對答,在言語中保護了兒子也防止自己受害。
不是人人都看得見。這神蹟會在你身上發生?
