1. Now six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had died, and whom He had raised from the dead.
2. There they made a supper for Him, and Martha served; and Lazarus was one of those who sat with Him.
3. Mary then took a pound of pure spikenard ointment worth a great price and anointed Jesus’ feet, wiping His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the aroma of the ointment.
4. As a result, one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who was about to betray Him, said,
5. “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred silver coins, and given to the poor?”
6. Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and carried what was put in it.
7. Then Jesus said, “Let her alone; she has been keeping it toward the day of My burial.
8. For you have the poor with you always, but you do not always have Me.”
9. Then a great crowd of the Jews found out that He was there. And they came, not only because of Jesus, but also that they might see Lazarus, whom He hadmu raised from the dead.
10. But the chief priests took counsel in order that they might kill Lazarus also;

1. 在逾越節前六天。耶穌來到伯大尼,就是拉撒路在那地方死去,又被復活過來。

2. 在那裡為耶穌設筵,馬大伺候。拉撒路和其他人一起與耶穌同坐。

3. 此時,馬利亞拿著價值一利巴,是不斐的純正甘松油,用之抹耶穌的腳,再用自己的頭髮擦乾。屋裡頓時充滿了膏油的香氣。

8. 你們常有窮人與你們一起,只是不再常有我。

9. 這時卻出現許多猶太人,知道他在此聚會,是專為此而來,不單是因為耶穌,更要針對那位死而復活的拉撒路。

10. 他們是受了吩咐而來,因祭司長們在議會中下了命令,要把拉撒路也殺。

11. 只是赴會當中好些猶太人,都因為拉撒路的緣故,不依從吩咐,歸信了耶穌。

這描述是一幕電映的畫面,一幕外表歡快的聚會,原來暗藏殺機。祭司和法利賽人終於約計畫實施,要在馬大和馬利亞去慶祝耶穌的神蹟,讓拉撒路復活帶來的震撼,要一下子清除,以保住他們的尊貴和權力。這幕,在歷史中常有出現,歷久常新。為何這樣?倒是個有趣又值得探索的問題。

這是人經歷了不可置信的一幕,會有二方面的反應。祭司和法利賽人,就是信仰層面的領袖,他們與沒有信仰的領袖,有相同的反應,這現象按妁翰的理解,是黑暗的一面。

另一面是相信自己又忠於自己看見的,在八福視為清心的人,他們從事件當中看到神。為何會承認又敢於公開的表達,甚至不怕會受祭司和法利賽人的報復?

也許是在表達自己的立場會有什麼後果出現有關。這種表達,在東西方有不同的後果產生,就有了不同反應。西方是容易接納不同意見,也會表示尊重,很少會有因為不同意見而產生追殺的後果。

東方文化不同,不同就是敵人。這種不是朋友就是敵人,可以發生在許多不同層面,不同深淺的地方上。華人文化就是跟隨大佬的文化,為什麼如此出現?因為有輩份的關係此其一。其二是接收文化的方式,是填鴨式,老師說的就是真,考試在以前只有一重觀念的表達才是正確。它不是西方的教育,是看立論當中,有沒有足夠的說明。再其三,就是華人大多數是血氣行事。若不是,就默然不語,沒有相互印證的可能,一是聽你的,一是聽我的。

當時在慶祝場面當中,有猶太人親眼所見,就深信耶穌是神差來,看到死人,真的活過來,就相信。這神蹟不在其本身的現象,意指的是人沉睡了的靈,因藉耶穌施行的神蹟,明白生死之間,有超乎肉身存在以外的一種解釋,那是約翰形容,世界有光明和黑暗的存在,耶穌能將二者區分。
