1. Now before the feast of the Passover, knowing that His time had come to depart from this world to the Father, Jesus, having loved His own who were in the world, loved them to the end.
2. And after supper began (the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, that he should betray Him),
3. Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God,
4. Rose from supper and laid aside His garments; and after taking a towel, He secured it around Himself.
5. Next, He poured water into a washing basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel which He had secured.
6. Then He came to Simon Peter; and he said to Him, “Lord, are You going to wash my feet?”
7. Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you shall know after these things.”
8. Peter said to Him, “You shall not wash my feet, not ever.” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.”
9. Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.”
10. Jesus said to him, “The one who has been washed does not need to wash anything other than the feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all.”
11. For He knew the one who was betraying Him; this was the reason He said, “Not all of you are clean.”
12. Therefore, when He had washed their feet, and had taken His garments, and had sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? (A Faithful Version)

1. 過逾越節之先，耶穌就明白，離世歸父的時候快到。耶穌愛這世間屬自己的人，是會愛他們到底。

2. 在一起享用晚餐的時候（心魔就在加略人猶大的心裡聊動，他是西門的兒子，要出賣耶穌），

3. 耶穌是曉得，父已將一切交由他自己去處理。耶穌明白是從神來，要回神那裡，

4. 晚膳後，從坐位起來，脫下外衣，拿了毛巾，纏在腰上。

5. 然後去倒水在臉盆。開始洗門徒的腳，並用束在腰間的毛巾，擦乾門徒的腳。

6. 當輪到西門彼得時，他問：主啊，你真的要洗我的腳？

7. 耶穌回應：我如今所做的事，你不會明白。以後就會知道。

8. 彼得即時回應說：你不可洗我的腳，永不可。耶穌回說：若不洗你的腳，就與我無份。

9. 西門彼得說：主啊，若是如此，不但單洗我的腳，我的手和頭都洗。

10. 耶穌笑笑地回應：人若洗過澡，就不用再洗，除了雙腳，是全身都乾淨。彼得，你是乾淨的，不是所有人都乾淨。

11. 耶穌說這話，是知道有人要出賣他。就說了這句：不是所有人都乾淨。

12. 洗完了在座門徒的腳，就穿回外服，重新坐下，對他們說：我為你們所做的，都明白嗎？

這後與彼得的對話很精彩又極有深意。

耶穌在最後的服侍，要說明一個重要的信仰精義：什麼是乾淨。

對話的內容：彼得問：主啊，你真的要洗我的腳？耶穌回應：我如今所做的事，你不會明白。以後就會知道。彼得即時回應說：你不可洗我的腳，永不可。耶穌回說：若不洗你的腳，就與我無份。西門彼得說：主啊，若是如此，不但單洗我的腳，我的手和頭都洗。耶穌笑笑地回應：人若洗過澡，就不用再洗，除了雙腳，是全身都乾淨。彼得，你是乾淨的，不是所有人都乾淨。

這是個以色列人的生活習慣，因為居住地是到處沙塵的地方，入門時沖洗雙腳，成了家居乾淨的必做的事。只是當時在用餐，腳早就洗過。耶穌洗腳，門徒都以為是習慣，沒有人覺得有異，只有彼得。

彼得看耶穌洗腳覺得奇怪，就產生了這段對話：什麼是乾淨？

耶穌的回應很地道，用的是日常生活的習慣，乾淨很簡單，洗腳就可以。彼得有過非常人性的理解：要沖涼才算。這對話當中間含了一段智慧，就在日常會發生的事當中。要的是一份分辨如何正確作出判斷的能力。彼得清心，眾人看不到的，他看到。這是心靈的相互接觸，彼得因雜事蒙心，耶穌為他點悟。

耶穌用洗腳做例：人在外走動，沙塵滾滾，因為有衣服，就只留雙腳在外(他們沒有靴，是赤腳)，那麼洗洗，腳就乾淨。似乎是指：人藉耶穌相信了天地間有為創造者，是人原來的出處，本來就乾淨。只因在塵世，要搵食，在外風塵僕僕，總有些陷阱而不自覺。只因相信了耶穌，就明白光明和黑暗之間的差別。只因人要搵食要生活，難免出錯。人在討生活而犯錯，已是習以為常的事，避不過來，如何處理？就不用沖涼，洗洗隻腳就可以。

有了耶穌這句話，犯錯不是不可原諒(人不原諒神不會)，改過就是。彼得為何被神稱為磐石？一是心堅，二是犯錯不斷，三次有記載，無記載的千百次。今日唔肯認耶穌一次，都趕出教會，那是人的要求，不是神。改過就是。

耶穌可能有個不曾說出的話，你悔過不是向人，是向神。
