1. “Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in Me.
2. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were otherwise, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.
3. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; so that where I am, you may be also.
4. And where I am going you know, and the way you know.”
5. Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going; how then can we know the way?”
6. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.
7. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also. But from this time forward, you know Him and have seen Him.”
8. Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be sufficient for us.”
9. Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long a time, and you have not known Me, Philip? The one who has seen Me has seen the Father; why then do you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
10. Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I speak to you, I do not speak from My own self; but the Father Himself, Who dwells in Me, does the works.
11. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; but if not, believe Me because of the works themselves.

1. 你們心裡不要憂愁。你們信神，也當信我。

2. 在我父家裡有許多住處；如果不是，就會告訴你。我去是給你們預備地方。

3. 我若去為你們預備地方，就必再來接你們到我那裡去。我在哪裡，你們也在哪裡。

4. 我要去的地方，你們知道，那條路，你們也知道。

5. 多馬對耶穌說：主啊，我們其實不知道你去哪，怎知道是那條路呢？

6. 耶穌回應：我就是道路、真理、生命；若不藉著我，沒有人能到父那裡去。

7. 若認識我，就認識我的父。但今以後，你們會知道，並且會見到。

8. 腓力此時向耶穌及問：主啊，求你滿足我們的渴求，將父揭示給我們認識。

9. 耶穌回應：腓力，我們一起有段很長時間，你還不了解我？只要有人看見我，他就是看見父。你為何仍說將父顯給你們看？

10. 你似乎不相信，我在父裡面，父也在我裡面。我對你們說過的話，不是憑己意，是那位在我裡面的父說的。

11. 相信我，我是在父裡面，父也是在我裡面。即或不是，也可以透過我所做過的事，從這些事當中了解，繼而相信我。

12. 我實實在在地告訴你們，我做過的事，信我的人也會繼續。是因我將會離去，你們以後做的事，將會比我做的更大。

約翰這個描述也很精彩，它反映出一般人對信耶穌這事，雖然有親身的經驗，仍舊不清楚信耶穌是什麼一回事。

耶穌常對信眾說他有一個時間，這個時間是他要面對，不可以逃避，是面對死亡的那一刻。這死亡是指在肉體而言，只是人的心靈，就是人那口被神吹進的氣，卻是活起來。人在看似光明的人生，其實是帶人走向死亡。著耶穌了解神，之後，那是從死亡走向光明，這肉身的死亡帶來了心靈的更新，成了有靈的活人。

耶穌回去神的身邊，在右邊，那許就是在左邊，留著給那些著耶穌信神，導使心靈更生者到來。

當時耶穌的門徒跟他多年，似乎只有約翰感悟出箇中道理。

其他的門徒聽到耶穌說，你們知道的那條路，依隨這路就可以到達。這些門徒問，是那氣路？這對話不就是今日信眾的光景？這些信眾常問一個問題：我怎知哪是神的心意？他們常常迷惑，即使像當日的門徒，天天說親近，日日靈修，又時不時退修尋求神的心意，卻仍舊不斷這尋求，看不到那條[路]。

耶穌說：我是道路、真理、生命。對未信的有效，對相信的人卻失效，就跟千年之前的門徒一樣。耶穌的解釋是：我與父同一，即使信我，也看看我做的事，就會知道。

耶穌說：我是道路、真理、生命。似乎是說：各位，請用你的的眼睛，望真我一點。我這個人本身，在和你們相處的時候，就憑藉我的言行，就足以說明，這些言行當中展現出人生存的永恆價值，它是指引人在黑暗當中時的一條光明之路；我的言行當中，它指出人間有種相處的真理，使人從黑暗人進入光明；我說過的言行，都有存到永恆，光明活著，不被黑暗吞噬的永恆生命的價值。
