15. Therefore, when they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonas, do you love Me more than these?” And he said to Him, “Yes, Lord. You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.”

16. He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonas, do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Yes, Lord. You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Shepherd My sheep.”

17. He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonas, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things. You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.

18. Truly, truly I say to you, since you were young, you have dressed yourself and walked wherever you have desired; but when you are old, you shall stretch out your hands, and another shall dress you and bring you where you do not desire to go.”

19. Now He said this to signify by what death he would glorify God. And after saying this, He said to him, “Follow Me.”

20. But when Peter turned, he saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had sat at the supper and leaned on His chest, and had said, “Lord, who is it that is betraying You?”

21. Seeing him, Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, what shall happen to this one?”

22. Jesus said to him, “If I desire that he remain alive until I come, what is it to you? You follow Me.”

23. Then this saying went out among the brethren, that that disciple would not die. However, Jesus did not say to him that he would not die; but, “If I desire that he remain alive until I come, what is it to you?”

24. This is the disciple who testifies concerning these things and who wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true.

25. But there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I do not suppose that even the world itself could contain the books that would be written. Amen. (A Faithful Version)

15. 眾人吃完早餐，耶穌問對西門彼得：約拿的兒子西門，你愛我比這些更深嗎？彼得說：「主啊，是的，你知道我愛你。耶穌回說：哪你餵養我的羊。

16. 耶穌第二次問：約拿的兒子西門，你愛我嗎？彼得說：“主啊，是的，你知道我愛你。耶穌說：你牧養我的羊。

17. 耶穌第三次問：約拿的兒子西門，你愛我嗎？彼得因為耶穌第三次問你愛我嗎？就憂愁，地回應：主啊，你是無所不知，你知道我是愛你。耶穌對他說：哪你餵養我的羊。

18. 我很實在的跟你說，你仍年青的時候，會按自己喜好穿衣，喜歡去那就去那。到你老了，會自己伸手，讓人給你穿衣，帶你到不願意去的地方。

19. 耶穌說這番話，是讓彼得了解將來面臨的死亡，能讓神的榮耀彰顯。說了這話，就說：跟我來。

20. 彼得就跟著，看見耶穌所愛的門徒也跟著。他曾經在那天晚上的筵席上，側身伏在耶穌的胸口的那位，曾問：主啊，賣你的那位是誰？

21. 彼得一見這位耶穌所愛的門徒，隨即問耶穌：主啊，那人的結果怎樣？

22. 耶穌回應：我若叫那人活到我再來，與你何干？你只管跟從我就是。

23. 這句回聽被眾多弟兄聽到，便認為那門徒沒有死。耶穌的意思沒有說死或不死，是說：我若叫那人活到我再來，與你何干？

24. 這位記事的門徒，記錄下來是為這些事作證，我們眾人都在場，見證這些事，是真的。

25. 耶穌行過許多事，若都記在書上，我認為，用這世界來裝，也是容不下的。阿們。

約翰似乎在見證一事，人不要怕跌倒，每次爬起來就是，這會讓信心更加肯定和堅強。

華人信眾很怕犯錯，那是因為有道德上的要求，又有不能被原諒犯錯的環境，於是，[怕]跟隨著一生。這種忌言慎行，就像人在囚牢而不自覺，就有了小心駛得萬年船。

耶穌這三問彼得，著實有著信仰深度的含意：唔使怕跌倒，是人在學習過程。知錯能改，不去掩飾，是因為相信自己。這份對自己的信心，需要的是何等大的自信。彼得在回應耶穌三問時，不像世人，覺得不被信任，而是反問：耶穌，你明知故問，這可有二類的反應，彼得是正面。彼得有發怒嗎？沒有。有感厭煩？沒有，有感到不了解？沒有。因為知道耶穌要他肯定自己的信心不變。

約翰在此也順帶記載彼得那率直的心胸，他直問出賣耶穌那位的生死。這份好奇，被耶穌提醒。世間有許多令信眾好奇的事，千奇百怪，理論繁多，人都會因此而分心，不專注神與你的關係，對人而言，都是無益。

約翰結尾時強調這處的記載是真實，有見證人。耶穌這三年多做過的事說過的話很多，無法盡錄，我們當時就有人信也記下，都是真的。
