12. And as He drew near to the gate of the city, behold, one who had died was being carried out, an only son to his mother, and she was a widow; and a considerable crowd from the city was with her.
13. And when the Lord saw her, He was moved with compassion for her and said to her, “Do not weep.”
14. And He came up to the bier and touched it, and those who were bearing it stopped. Then He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise!”
15. And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and He gave him to his mother.
16. Then fear seized everyone, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us,” and, “God has visited His people.”

11. 第二天,耶穌來到了處叫叫拿因地的地方,隨從當中有使徒並許多人追隨。
12. 到了將近城門處,見有死人被抬出來,是在旁這位母親的獨生子,她是個寡婦。有許多人隨同從城裡而出。

17. 關於耶穌所行的奇事就被傳遍整個猶大地和四周的地方。
路加這段描述,似乎有個重點,耶穌的差事有個大轉變,是個成熟的開始,向四周說明,彌賽亞要來拯救。因此神蹟不在被禁出聲,倒要大事宣揚起來。這事連那位被召去得人如魚。跟隨耶穌的約翰都不相信,耶穌有彌賽亞這身份 (在16節當中被譯為先知的原文,有許多不同的應用,當中有一個彌賽亞的角式。在這處用彌賽亞一詞似乎更合文本要表達的意思)。
註:這位驚訝的約翰相信不是施水禮那位約翰。因為在路加福音的起頭,就有記載施水禮的約被斬了。這位約翰是被後來呼召去跟隨的那位,有較大的可信性,他就是寫約翰書信、福音書及啟示錄那位。
路加記載耶穌傳道的歷程有許多細節的地方,當中可以了解耶穌在傳福音的過程,是循序漸進,有淺入深。要說是當效法的個人傳福音策略。有何證明?
就以行神蹟奇事為例,先前吩咐人不要傳開,到此章是可以放肆地傳開,顯然易見這是一種策略。因此用先知這詞是不大配合耶穌個人傳道的策略上應用。
路加記載不是他自己的經驗,是從使徒當中的經歷。因此這話是當時的使徒的一個觀點,耶穌是彌賽亞。而彌賽亞來要做的事,叫死的人復活。
許多研事都在死人復活這事上,在現實和喻意之間有許多不同的意見。在路加似乎是有意或者無意去處理,路加自己說明是按事件發生的次序記下。他沒有解釋。如果信仰本身是讓人有所改變,而改變不在肉體,而在血氣,那就是只有由精神出發建立原則藉此改變行為,這是信仰奇妙的地方:改變人的精神面貌。它不是從學術或者成就可以得來的轉變。例如從死裡復活,那是從行屍走肉改變成為有血有肉有靈的活人,是藉耶穌相信神而來。
