19. 耶穌再舉一比喻為例:有位財主,穿的是紫色袍和細麻布衣服,天天奢華宴樂。

20. 又有一個窮人,名叫拉撒路,渾身生瘡,癱在財主門前的台階。

21. 餓到想食檯上掉下的零碎也不介意,更期望有隻狗來舔他的瘡。

22. 不幸的他死了,被天使帶去,安置在亞伯拉罕的懷裡。不久財主也死了並埋葬。

拉撒路是誰?

聖經故事中的拉撒路(Lazarus)記載於《約翰福音》第11章,他是耶穌的摯友,也是伯大尼的馬大和,馬利亞的兄弟。拉撒路病故後,耶穌前往伯大尼,在拉撒路死後四天,耶穌指示眾人移開墓穴的石頭,並呼喚拉撒路出來,隨後拉撒路便從墳墓中走出來復活了

如果是,拉撒路的身世和遭遇是可以再加研究。這處不打算進入更多的討論。耶穌點名相信有深意在,只是未能完全體會。這位記錄在約翰福音中的拉撒路似乎跟這處的,是同一位,最明顯的是,不見生平只見死亡。

這處的拉撒路很窮,有病,患嚴重的皮膚病,這病跟貧窮也有關係。跟他相對的是財主,身食無憂。這個對比很強烈。也顯示二者的情況形成一道鴻溝,它是二個絕不相同的心態:強者和弱者。

正正是這麼強烈,就顯示出不是財主的能力出問題,而在心中沒有憐憫 (心存憐憫的有福了)。這比喻將需要憐憫和不存憐憫之間,在彌賽亞國度的重要。八福中有言:心存憐憫的人,必得憐憫 (太5:7)。為此問題不出于有錢無錢,是出於人是否有憐憫人的心,而惻忍之心人皆有之,是創造本來就有。有錢有權是強者?不是他本人強,而是制度本身需要,因為強人是藏身制度保護。弱者並不弱。只是不與天爭不和地鬥,持著人該有人性過活而矣。以香港為例,有許多老年人士,他們一把年紀是以自身微弱的勞力,去爭取生存的權利。他們不求人,不乞憐社會國家,相比那個更強?一個弱於智,一位強於靈。

財主提出一個很重要的問題,有見證就有人會信。耶穌給出的說法:若連摩西和先知的話都不能聽進,那怕是從死裡復活的,也不會聽 (v.31)。這是個非常嚴肅的話題,福音該如何去傳?

它涉及一個觀念:有憐憫的人會因為明白了而相信。若沒有憐憫,或假裝憐憫的人,就算見證擺在面前,都不會相信。這真傳福音時,給人一個明辨的表徵:見這人沒有憐憫之心,滿口律法,如該怎處理之類的話,對這等人作見證不會有果效,因為沒有得救的智慧。八福說有憐憫,得見神,意思有這份心腸,就不以學識、地位以及錢財作為人生唯一的目標。
