耶和華的事，不謀利沒有版權

1. And there came two angels to Sodom at evening. And Lot sat in the gate of Sodom. And Lot rose up to meet them when he saw them. And he bowed himself with his face toward the ground,

2. And said, “Behold now, my lords, please turn in to your servant’s house and stay all night, and wash your feet, and you shall rise up early and go your way.” And they said, “No, but we will stay in the street.”

3. But he urgently pressed upon them, and they turned in to him and entered into his house. And he made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.

4. But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both old and young, all the people from every quarter.

5. And they called to Lot, and said to him, “Where are the men who came in to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may know them.”

6. And Lot went out the door to them, and shut the door after him.

7. And he said, “I pray you, brethren, do not act so wickedly!

8. Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known a man. I pray you, let me bring them out to you, and you do to them as you see fit. But do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shadow of my roof.”

9. And they said, “Stand back!” And they said, “This one came in to sojourn, and must he now play the judge? Now we will deal worse with you than with them.” And they pressed hard upon the man Lot, and came near to breaking down the door.

10. But the men put out their hands and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut the door.

11. And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

1. 只有兩位使者到所多瑪來，那是傍晚時份。羅得就坐在所多瑪城門守候。見使者到來，起立迎接，俯伏在地行禮。

2. 並說：我主，請到僕人家裡留宿一晚，洗洗腳，明天早晨再上路不遲。使者回應：不用了，我們選擇住在外面。

3. 羅得卻是再三懇求，才願留宿。於是為預備晚餐，再加無酵餅，他們都吃了。

4. 還未休息，所多瑪城的人，有老有少，從四面八方過來，圍住這房子。

5. 還向羅得大喊：今晚到你家來的那些人，帶出來，讓我們見識。

6. 羅得聽罷便出去，並順手把門關上

7. 對眾人說：各位弟兄，請不要亂來。

8. 若要什麼？我有兩女兒，還未許配。我帶出來，任你們處置。只要不傷害我的客人。

9. 這些上門挑釁的人說：走開！又說：那些留宿的，是來作審判？不要阻撓，否則對你不利。就用力推開羅得，幾乎要把門拆了。

10. 就在這時，屋裡的人伸出手，把羅得拉進屋裡，關上門。

11. 同時，讓站在門外的人，不論老少，頓時失明，以致他們伸手去摸，找尋出路。

這是接著亞伯蘭接待耶和華，知道是要去所多瑪，就明白要做什麼。亞伯蘭是有分辨事物的能力，又是願意持守對耶和華的信心。當知道要去所多瑪，就明白他姪子羅得會遭殃，於是一連問了好幾個問題，就是要清楚羅得能否免受處分。為此，耶和華稱讚他。

就在使者往前去所多瑪，亞伯蘭就使人通知羅得去接待。這是為何這段開首就記載羅得在城門守候，似乎是知道什麼，等候著不至錯失了機會。

大部份中文聖經似乎未能掌握這情節的變化。

亞伯蘭和羅得分開不是因為不和，是因為時勢不容，在無可奈何之下作出的決定。羅得選擇一處有更多發展可能的地方，也是合理，人情之內。

這章似乎要說明一事：懂分辨，就能看清耶和華的心意，也能幫助別人，挽回生命。

這段也有特別的地方，就是三位使者，少了一位，那位是誰？我猜的是聖靈，你呢？

當羅得了解這事，與自己生死攸關，就盡力爭取。

他如何去盡力？

那是他能力範圍內可以做的事，當中包括盡自己力量。

他自己出去勸說：大家不要亂來。當中沒有記載的，就是尋求到來的緣由。這裡不用去以文字解釋，因為明顯就是針對羅得接待的二位。這是個很有意思的描述，因為這種拒絕，不單在羅得的處境，它是普世人間的反映，特別華人世界更是如是，信耶穌不是容易的事，因為有關於文化承傳以及祖宗的歸屬，這是個很大的問題，因此引來很大的抗拒。為此，這事件才有這樣的反映，他們的理由是什麼？不就是違背了祖訓！(一種有目的地去被誤導的道理，如控制人的自由)

其次，以條件交換。他願意以兩個女兒作出交換，相信是無法可施的唯一辦法。因為出來攪事全都是男性，為的不就是二樣物事，金錢和女性。金錢和女性在當時可列入通用貨幣之列，這是文化和環境使然。在發達如今日的社會，那些邪惡之人，或者自私自利的政權，不都是以此二物事，錢跟女性，作為交易的工具。

羅得只為一事盡力：保住耶和華，就能保住自己不至趺倒。
