8. And Abimelech rose early in the morning and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears. And the men were greatly afraid.

9. Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said to him, “What have you done to us? In what have I offended you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done.”

10. And Abimelech said to Abraham, “What did you foresee that has caused you to do this thing?”

11. And Abraham said, “Because I thought, surely the fear of God is not in this place, and they will kill me for my wife’s sake.

12. And yet truly she is my sister. She is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother. And she became my wife.

13. And it came to pass when God caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said to her, ‘This is your kindness which you should show to me, at every place where we shall go, say of me, “He is my brother.” ’ ”

14. And Abimelech took sheep and oxen, and men servants and women servants, and gave them to Abraham. And he restored to him Sarah his wife.

15. And Abimelech said, “Behold, my land is before you. Live where it pleases you.”

16. And to Sarah he said, “Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver. Behold, it is to you a covering of the eyes to all that are with you—and with all men you are made right.”

17. And Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech and his wife and his maidservants, and they gave birth,

18. For the LORD had closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.

8. 這日亞比勒起得早,召集眾官員,將事情詳細告之。眾人聽罷都感震驚。

9. 亞比米勒隨後召亞伯蘭到來,問:究竟什麼地方得罪了你,竟做出這樣的事?我和我國人竟蒙受這等遭害?你這行為對我做成了傷害!

10. 亞比米勒問:是否你預知道什麼,才做出這樣的事?

11. 亞伯蘭回:我原以為這地的人不信有耶和華,會因我妻子的緣故殺我。

12. 她確實是我妹妹,同屬一位父親,並不是出自我母親。後來成了我妻子。

13. 作出這樣安排,是耶和華吩咐要離開父家,是為我的好處。能完全接待你的,就是你的兄弟。

14. 聽罷,亞比米勒送絡亞伯蘭牛羊等牲畜,並男女奴僕,將撒萊歸還。

15. 並說:我的地方,可以隨意居住。

16. 隨後對撒萊說:我給你哥哥一千舍客勒銀子,它可以讓四周的人明白,你們是得蒙恩惠。

17. 亞伯蘭為此向耶和華禱告,就醫治了他的妻子,以及眾婢女,能再次生育。

18. 緣因是耶和華因撒萊的緣故,讓亞比米勒家中的婦人不能生育。

這段描述似乎在說明與耶和華有約的人,二者在互動的一個原則:行為正直的,必蒙保護。

這樣的互動方式是如何出現又如何理解?

1. 從亞比米勒理解:他在這事上,是按當時人的辦事方式,是常理是慣性的運作方式,沒有因為有權力去用強。

2. 從亞伯蘭的角度:他去到一處滿天神佛的國度,民間許多習慣都與信仰的表達方式不同,為求自保,用了一些方法,去保護自己。用現在的標準,這男人非常自私。按當時的習慣,因為生存的環境而來的習慣,從求生的角度,男性是主導的角色,婦女就是財富同等,它不是學術或觀念的主張,是實實在在的生活,這都成了習俗,一直伸延,這個可反映在伊斯蘭教當中。亞伯蘭處理的方式,屬正常之列。

第12節 她確實是我妹妹,同屬一位父親,並不是出自我母親。後來成了我妻子。這個問題可以在 10.2 中找到答案。

3. 耶和華當時似乎沒有介入。亞比米勒不認識耶和華,是出於個人的處事原則,合乎正道,耶和華就不去干預。亞伯蘭在沒事發生,也不用去求助,直至真的出現他想像的情況。按這處的描述:17. 亞伯蘭為此向耶和華禱告,就醫治了他的妻子,以及眾婢女,能再次生育。之所以如此,是因為有了溝通,明白了。亞伯蘭才會去求耶和華平息這事。似乎是暗示亞伯蘭之前,因為此事,求耶和華的幫助,耶和華也確實去幫助。

當明白了此事,原來出於自己的求生本能,並沒有相信耶和華確實能夠保護,便出於求生本能,作了這樣的安排。耶和華是體諒。

人不完美,指的是人有肉身和生存的局限,作出應變求生的方式,是常情是可體諒的事,都在人的光明正大的反應,沒有傷人利己,也就沒有違反信仰的原則和精神。為此,二者都作出本份的事,耶和華就公平地,以和平方式解決。

這事,似乎可以讓相信又跟隨者一個應對事物的原則:行為正直,必蒙保護。以前如是,以後不變,這是應許,是立約,有永恆可實現的承諾。
