27. And the boys grew. And Esau was a skilled hunter, a man of the field. And Jacob was a quiet man, living in tents.
28. And Isaac loved Esau because he ate of his venison. But Rebekah loved Jacob.
29. And Jacob boiled soup. And Esau came from the field, and he was faint.
30. And Esau said to Jacob, “I beg you, let me eat of the red, this red soup, for I am faint.” Therefore, his name was called Edom. ( Original; אדום אדם )
31. And Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright today.”
32. And Esau said, “Behold, I am at the point of dying, and what profit shall this birthright be to me?”
33. And Jacob said, “Swear to me this day.” And he swore to him, and he sold his birthright to Jacob.
34. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and soup of lentils. And he ate and drank, and rose up and went his way. Thus did Esau despise his birthright.

摩西描述這雙生兄弟,當中反映出二人的不同性格。二種不同性格,有沒有這個比那個好的含意在?在創造的立場,應沒有。因為性格是中性,好壞在乎如何表現這種性格,用得合宜,就是好。摩西不是在批判那個比這個好,而是提醒各有好和不好,二種性格的人,各自留心便是。
這處場景是有人煮湯,等人來;有人想喝湯,因為勞動完。
想飲湯的以掃。生活是靠體力活動,腦力活動當然有,都在如何生活,獨立而自存。這人純良不靈巧。
煮湯的雅各。似乎是不善生產,腦筋卻很發達。他是律師行業的始祖,是人間第一位用立約方式,得到別人的承繼權。他動腦動到耶和華頭上,是靈巧不純良。是不是這樣方式,合人性不用武,更懂約法三章的妙用。
這二類別的人,都受耶和華祝福,卻不同於以實瑪利的祝福。相同,是人數眾多。不同是當中有二類人心,不靈巧卻純良,另一類是靈巧卻不純良。
這種不同的祝福,看來不是對猶太以外的民族。那麼被差派來的耶穌,是針對猶太以外的民族,同是創造者創造,不再這屬靈歷史當中,沒有記載,不是不存在。那麼耶穌被差到來,意義非比尋常。也明白猶太人不認耶穌,是因為是民族信仰承傳,這是有別於福音的連接,他們似乎不反對基督。今日看以色列總理內塔尼亞胡和美國的川普,他們不單在戰事上合作,也互相認許對方的信仰,而且在動機上靈巧純良。
這是二段相同的信仰的歷史發展,既分開又連結。
