 17. So Isaac departed from there and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar and lived there.

18. And Isaac dug again the wells of water which they had dug in the days of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Abraham. And he called them by the names which his father had called them.

19. And Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and found there a well of flowing water.

20. But the herdsmen of Gerar strove with Isaac’s herdsmen, saying, “The water is ours.” And he called the name of the well Contention because they strove with him.

21. And they dug another well, and they strove over that one too. And he called its name, Opposition.

22. Then he moved from there and dug another well, but they did not strive over it. So he called its name, Broad Places. And he said, “For now the LORD has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.”

23. And he went from there to Beersheba.

24. And the LORD appeared to him the same night, and said, “I am the God of Abraham your father. Do not fear, for I am with you, and will bless you and multiply your seed for My servant Abraham’s sake.”

25. And he built an altar there and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there. And Isaac’s servants dug a well there.

17. 以撒聽從離開,在基拉耳谷中搭帳篷,作為居所。

18. 以撒當時重開亞伯拉罕那時所挖的井,只因被非利士人封住。:現在重用當日為井起的名字。(21:31 巴示巴)

19. 以撒的僕人同時在谷中,挖出另一口流動的水井。

20. 基拉耳的牧人與以撒的牧人,為了這口水井起了爭執,都說:這水是我的。以撒因此給這井起名叫 :二不相容,表示因為這井互不退讓。

21. 以撒僕人又另挖一口井,再為此起爭論。以撒給這井起名:雀角鼠牙。

22. 以撒讓給了他們,在別訖另開了一口。這回沒有起爭吵,就給這井起名:海闊天空,因為耶和華為我開出一片空間,能在此生養眾多。

23. 以撒就定居於別是巴。

24. 當日夜間時分,耶和華向他顯現,說:我是你先祖亞伯拉罕相信那位耶和華。不用怕,我是常與你同在那位,只因我曾應許亞伯拉罕,會祝福他,且子孫存到萬代。

25. 為此,以撒就在此,以耶和華為名築起一座壇。在旁搭起帳棚,僕人另外多開一口井。

摩西在這段的描述,似乎在反映以撒是如何面對處境,用的是什麼方法,持守是什麼觀念和態度。

以撒在此段時間,同樣是亞伯拉罕遇過,而且有同一個反應。他娶妻之後, 同樣有亞伯拉罕那份擔心,恐怕自己的妻子被擄走,這是地沿政況。這份擔心緣出於寄居的不安全感而來,這種生存的感覺很普遍,作為移民群體尤為明顯。如何有信心去克服,這份信心的操練不容易。

在條件不利於己的情況下,如何保持信心,也許是許多信眾要去學習的地方。

亞伯拉罕和撒萊,各自有不同的信心表達。以撒也有自己的方式,那是環境不同所至。以撒寄居地的領袖,見過耶和華對亞伯拉罕的祝福,就一直以禮相待,縱然不相信也不去罔撞。這情況之所以改變,是因為以撒財富比他更富強,由此產生不安全的感覺。在他仍有能力之際,請他離開是上上之策。人的際遇,似乎不是無緣無故,有許多因緣紏結在其中。

以撒有沒有被逼的感覺?無從得知。不是沒有選擇,而是選擇留在原地。這處是被引帶過來,在未有指示之前,留在原地是上上之選。這處境這選擇,人人不同,以撒在沒有更新指示之前,留在原地。這是信心表現。

有困難,不是不可以解決,有被人欺負的感覺?沒有。為什麼,因為心中有耶和華,他是在等待。困難,人人都有,人人也有克服困難的能力,靠耶和華或靠人,選那個?聰明人自有聰明的選擇。被人欺?那是因為有個 [我] 而來的的損失,認識耶和華,這是別人無能,自己為此作出犧牲,助人。耶和華也是如此,可必氣憤!

The town of Beersheba was named after an event that happened at the time Isaac’s servants dug a well there. The name means “The Well of the Oath,” commemorating the covenant made between Isaac and Abimelech, which followed soon after the trouble over possession of wells at Gerar (Genesis 26).  此文對水源有許多詳解,值得一看。

此段描述爭水事件,似乎內中蘊涵一層更深的意義:生存有困難,不可怕,因為有耶和華的應許。

水:是當時人生存的必要條件,沒有流出的活水,就算擁有大量不能流動的水 (財富) 人還是會死。當然人不能沒有水,水源是免費人人可以擁有,要自己去找。流動的水又稱活水

以撒了不起的地方是信心,活水一個個被人侵佔,那是生存受到威脅。他的反應看來不是人一般。信念讓他明白一件重要事,耶和華應許子孫的延續。以撒的信心建基於生活的經歷,他曾有個1. 作為祭物的經歷,2. 與亞伯拉罕經歷旱災得來的第一桶金,3. 憑信找到同族同宗的妻子,符合耶和華對信心的要求,4. 經歷第二次旱災,能安然渡過而且財富日增。

為此對生存就不再操心,面對這更為直接的威脅,無水。心中依然有活水長流,知道只要信心猶在,就能以己力面對。倘若自己能力不足以應付,那龐然大物的後盾,是隨時的幫助。
