33. And Laban went into Jacob’s tent and into Leah’s tent, and into the tents of the two maidservants, and he did not find them. And he went out of Leah’s tent and entered into Rachel’s tent.
34. And Rachel had taken the images and put them into the camel’s saddle, and sat upon them. And Laban searched all the tent but did not find them.
35. But she said to her father, “Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before you, for the custom of women is upon me.” And he searched but did not find the images.
36. And Jacob was angry and rebuked Laban. And Jacob answered and said to Laban, “What is my trespass? What is my sin that you have so hotly pursued after me?
37. For you have searched all my stuff—and what have you found of all your household stuff? Set it here before my brethren and your brethren that they may judge between us both.
38. I was with you these twenty years. Your ewes and she-goats have not cast their young, and the rams of your flock I have not eaten.
39. That which was torn by wild beasts I did not bring to you; I bore the loss of it. You required it at my hand, whether stolen by day, or stolen by night.
40. I was there; in the day the heat consumed me and the frost by night. And my sleep departed from my eyes.
41. And I have been twenty years in your house. I served you fourteen years for your two daughters, and six for your flocks. And you have changed my wages ten times.
42. Unless the God of my fathers, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac had been with me, surely now you would have sent me away empty. God has seen my affliction and the labor of my hands, and rebuked you last night.”
33. 拉班去搜索,先進雅各的帳篷,又進了利亞的,再到兩個使女的,都沒有找到,於是從利亞處出來,到最後拉結的帳篷。
34. 拉結早就把神像取出,放在自己的駱駝鞍上,而自己騎在上面。拉班搜遍了帳篷,沒找到。
35. 拉結在駱駝背上對父親說:父親,我不下來,請不要發怒,是因為有婦人的例事在身。拉班全都搜遍,就是找不到神像。
36. 此時,雅各帶著氣,用責備的口吻問拉班:究竟做了什麼,幹了什麼壞事,竟然追到這裡?
37. 還搜了我帶出來的,這些東西就在眾人面前,有我的兄弟也有你的兄弟,就讓他們判定什麼屬你,什麼屬我。這些物品都是從你家而來,你現在找到什麼屬於你的?
38. 我和你一起有二十年之久。從未走失過一隻大羊或一隻小羊,也不曾吃過屬於你的羊。
39. 被野獸捕食了的,沒有向你報失,是自己承擔作出了補償。而你,無論是白天被偷,還是晚上被劫,你都向我追討要求償還。
40. 為你牧羊,我承受白天酷熱難耐,夜晚嚴寒刺骨,徹夜難眠。
41. 在你家這二十年。我為娶你兩女兒,共服侍了十四年,再因要離開,為你的羊服侍了六年。這些年日當中,共更改了我十次工價。
42. 若不是我先祖輩相信那位耶和華,是亞伯拉罕相信,是以撒敬畏的那位,一直與我同在,若不是祂鑑察我的苦情和誠實地殷勤作工,就在昨晚責備了你,今日你會讓我空手而去。
摩西真是先見,他似乎看到一個事實,人求生遇難,大多會委曲求全。不是這個人的問題,而是被社會當中存私的人,利用別人的困境,滿足個人的私慾,例如不公平的對待。人在這樣不公的社會,變節求生是自然的反應,情有可原。
只是人生有令一個選擇,這個選擇的前題,是要明白世界有另一個生存的準則,專為持守心中那一份善的人而設。持守這份善有二個心境,一個是擇善固執,一個因愛而為。
前者屬於雅各,後者屬於二姊妹,利亞和拉結。
雅各受利百加影響,似乎是事實,一是受寵。雅各受寵是因利百加對其關愛有加,一直都為他前路操心,處處為維,也為其舖路。這一切都反映在用計得長子名份,用湯換取祝福。人看似柔弱心卻無比堅強,擇善固執於耶和華的應許之約。雅各不單母親寵愛,耶和華也是,不單在順從更在因何順從,固而執之。不是固執,是在堅持當中可以靈巧純良去應對環境的種種改變。拉班對他而言是禍也是福,這是一切事物的真相,好與壞不在事,在人如何作出選擇。堅持與耶和華立約,這人視為有福,是在堅持當中,耶和華為他開路。
這是雅各對耶和華保護開路和守約描述:v42. 若不是我先祖輩相信那位耶和華,是亞伯拉罕相信,是以撒敬畏的那位,一直與我同在,若不是祂鑑察我的苦情和誠實地殷勤作工,並昨晚責備了你,今日你會讓我空手而去。耶和華信實使人無悔。
至於二姊妹利亞和拉結,是當時世界不同於男性的社會地位,男主外女主內,按當時環境的須要,不是歧視是分工。有許多研究說成男女不平等,這結論有偏頗。因為環境因素,女性有其獨特的,在生活上對家庭作出非常的貢獻。女性行事可剛可柔,更重要是有顆無懼的心,那份堅持可以是非常固執,這份固執不同雅各,是出于對子女的關愛,對丈夫無可奈何的愛。有誰會比他們更了解愛的多變和重要?
利亞的愛是內歛不容易顯露,與拉結是不同。拉結的愛在面上都看得出,進取不退讓,是直覺的判斷火速行動。雅各明顯感受到。
耶和華的愛,是如何?
祂的愛是無所不在,無所不為,無所不知因此就有千變萬化的方式,例如苦中有愛,愛中有苦這種苦樂交織的現象出現,如何領愛,就要看,人對愛有何認識,有多深淺決定。人人都有愛,各自有選擇,你選擇那種,可以分享你所選的。
