12. And his brothers went to feed his father’s flock in Shechem.

13. And Israel said to Joseph, “Do not your brothers feed the flock in Shechem? Come, and I will send you to them.” And he said to him, “Here I am.”

14. And he said to him, “Please go see whether it is well with your brothers and well with the flocks. And bring me word again.” And he sent him out of the valley of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.

15. And a certain man found him, and behold, he was wandering in the field. And the man asked him, saying, “What are you looking for?”

16. And he said, “I am seeking for my brothers. Please tell me where they are feeding their flocks.”

17. And the man said, “They are gone from here, for I heard them say, ‘Let us go to Dothan.’ ” And Joseph went after his brothers, and found them in Dothan.

18. And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near them, they conspired against him to kill him.

19. And they said to one another, “Behold, this dreamer comes.

20. Therefore come now, and let us kill him, and throw him into some pit, and we will say some evil beast has devoured him. And we shall see what will become of his dreams.”

21. And Reuben heard, and he delivered him out of their hands and said, “Let us not kill him.”

22. And Reuben said to them, “Shed no blood. Throw him into this pit in the wilderness, but lay no hand upon him”—in order to rescue him out of their hands, and deliver him to his father again.

23. And it came to pass when Joseph had come to his brothers, they stripped Joseph of his tunic.

24. And they took him and threw him into a pit. And the pit was empty with no water in it.

12. 某日,眾兄弟為父親到示劍去放牧。

13. 以色列問約瑟:你兄弟是不是去示劍放牧?你去找他們。約瑟回應:我這就去。

14. 以色列續說:你去看看他們是否一切平安,再回來讓我知道。以色列從希伯崙谷離開,朝示劍方向去。

15. 旅途中,有人發覺他在田間阡陌張望,出言問他:要去那裡?

16. 約瑟回應:不知我兄弟他們在那裡放牧。你能告訴我嗎?

17. 這人說:他們走了很遠,當時他們說:要去多坍。於是,約瑟便去多坍,找到了他們。

18. 眾兄弟遠遠看到約瑟,還沒有走近,就商議要殺害他。

19. 彼此說:看!那個發夢的來了。

20. 既然來到,就殺了,丟在井坑里。回去就說被野獸吃掉。看他能否再去發夢。

21. 呂便聽罷,就有去救約瑟的念頭,就提出意見:不要殺他。

22. 呂便說:不必去殺害他,丟他在曠野就是,不用親下殺手。提議的目的,是想救他之後,再來找他交還給父親。

23. 約瑟這時來到,眾兄弟就把身穿的衣除下。

24. 丟進一個井坑。坑是乾的,裡面沒有水。

The city of Dothan is a focal point in an event of the earlier days of Joseph (c. 1900-1800 b.c.). His father, Jacob, sent him to inquire about the well-being of his brothers. He found them at Dothan, pasturing their flocks (Gen 37:13-17). They put Joseph in a pit, and subsequently sold him to a passing caravan of Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt.

A thousand years later (c. 850 b.c.), the prophet Elisha lived at Dothan. The King of Syria surrounded the city with his chariots and horsemen to apprehend the prophet, who was revealing the secret military plans of the Syrian king to the king of Israel (2 Kings 6:8-14).

In addition to the two Biblical events in which Dothan figures, the city is mentioned in the inscrs. of the Egyp. king Thutmose III (1490-1436 b.c.) as one of the Palestinian towns from which the Egyptians exacted tribute. Dothan is also referred to several times in the apocryphal book of Judith (3:9, 4:6, 7:3) in the military campaigns of Holofernes in the region of the plain of Dothan during the intertestamental period. In the early Christian period, Eusebius mentions Dothan in listing place names in Pal. (Onomasticon, 76, 13).

鐵器時代的多坍擔任 ,以色列人 行政中心, 考古學家發現了一個大型建築群,  希伯來文 現場有銘文。在鐵器時代 II 期間,它是一座城市 以色列王國。考古學家 威廉·G·德弗 據估計, 公元前 9 世紀和 8 世紀期間該市人口約為 1,200 人。

在撒馬利亞山區特爾多森以東的以色列聖地發現了一頭青銅公牛, 其歷史可以追溯到 11 世紀左右, 這可能與金牛犢的事件有關。

這些兄弟對約瑟的夢境,有種不信可否的心理反應,即使今日都非常普遍的一種現象:討厭人誇大。什麼是誇大,如何判定?一般研究集中在表達的人,絕少在感覺別人誇大這方面。因此約瑟的真實被人認為的誇大,心理的研究的結果就不適用在他身上,因為誇大是別人感覺,並非沒有事實,可惜事實不在脤前。情況就像傳說耶穌的真實時,信的人也不多,也許就是這種心理影響。

約瑟是拉結最後給以色列生的,真正以色列之繼承者,之後再沒有,約瑟似乎沒有記載他有後人。真的沒有還是記載方式不同,或者未被強謫調,往後探討。

約瑟被救,是因為親情。摩西沒有用耶和華拯救這樣的描述,也許是親情,是人生命中唯一人性的真實。因為如此真實,就有不法之徒,利用親情作為勒索。約瑟眾兄弟中不竟有少數沒有忌心,以親情為重的,產生了憐憫,這份憐憫讓他們在後來不幸的日子當中,蒙拯救。

耶穌被差來,是道成肉身 (約翰的說法),不就是因為憐憫。相信耶穌這份憐憫心腸,這人直接與耶和華接軌。就不同於亞伯拉罕之約,成了因信稱義。因信稱義就沒有子孫多如沙星這樣的約存在。因此,為何說以色列是最後蒙福的一族,因為這被祝福9一族,到約瑟為止。

現代的基督信仰者身份與耶穌同等,耶穌在世完結時,在耶和華右邊,相信的人在世完結時,在天上,會在那邊沒有提及,有沒有可能是在耶和華左邊?

  • 馬可福音 16:19:主耶穌和他們說完了話,後來被接到天上,坐在神的右邊。
  • 彼得前書 3:22:明確記載耶穌已經進入天堂,在神的右邊,眾天使和有權柄的並有能力的,都服從了他。
  • 羅馬書 8:34:指出基督耶穌已經死了,而且從死裡復活,現今在神的右邊,也替我們祈求。
  • 希伯來書 1:3, 8:1, 10:12, 12:2:多次提及耶穌洗淨人的罪後,坐在高天至大者的右邊 或 寶座的右邊,作為永遠的大祭司。
  • 使徒行傳 7:55-56:司提反被聖靈充滿時,看見耶穌站在神的右邊。

為此,舊約在約瑟之後,記載的內容如新約,是先知向猶太人陳述耶和華的心意。新約對象是普世,向不是猶太人陳述耶和華的本意,因為人,不論地域、皮膚色澤、語言差異,都是從創造天地的耶和華而來。

約瑟是一個信仰時代的終結,他與耶穌基督劃分舊新約,在猶太人和非猶太人在展示耶和華的真實,從一個守約的時代進入到一個守信的時代。不是件容易理解的事,幸有你同行,願多多分享。
