耶和華的事，不謀利沒有版權

1. Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, took both Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben;

2. Even they rose up before Moses with some of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the assembly, chosen men of the congregation, men who were well-known.

3. And they gathered themselves against Moses and against Aaron, and said to them, “You take too much upon you since all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them. Why then do you lift yourselves up above the congregation of the LORD?”

4. And when Moses heard this, he fell on his face.

5. And he spoke to Korah and to all his company, saying, “Even at daybreak the LORD will show who is His, and who is holy, and will cause him to come near to Him; even him whom He has chosen will He cause to come near to Him.

6. Do this. Take censers, Korah and all your company,

7. And put fire in them, and put incense in them before the LORD tomorrow. And it shall be the man whom the LORD chooses, he shall be holy. You take too much upon you, sons of Levi!”

8. And Moses said to Korah, “Hear now you sons of Levi:

9. Is it too little a thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel to bring you near to Himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD and to stand before the congregation to minister to them?

10. And He has brought you near, and all your brothers the sons of Levi with you. And do you seek the priesthood as well?

11. Therefore you and all your company are gathered against the LORD. And what is Aaron, that you murmur against him?”

1. 利未的曾孫、哥轄的孫子、以斯哈的兒子可拉，呂便子孫當中的以利押，他的兒子大坍、亞比蘭，以及比勒的兒子安，一同行動；

2. 這幫人帶頭向摩西抗議，連同以色列人中，有影響力的領袖二百五十位，是從民眾中被推選出來的。

3. 這幫人群聚向摩西和亞倫抗議：我們在耶和華眼中同為聖潔，你們以為比我們更為聖潔，是不是太高估了自己。

4. 摩西聽了這番話，面色大變。

5. 便即時對可拉和眾人說：明天清早黎明時分，相信耶和華會顯明祂所揀選的，讓這人站出來，是因為早就選好了。

6. 可拉，你們和他們一起，都手拿香爐，

7. 大家在明天，站在耶和華面前，有火將爐中的香點燃，這人就是耶和華揀選的。利未眾子孫，你們承擔的責任實在太重。

8. 摩西此時對可拉說：利未的子孫，請聽我一言，

9. 耶和華把你們這一族，從以色列人當中，分別出來，在群眾當中事奉，去辦理牽涉耶和華會幕牽的事，這不是小事。

10. 祂讓利未一族的子，特有親近祂的權利，這是祭司的權利。

11. 你們如今起來，向耶和華提出抗議，你們當亞倫是什麼。

摩西記述這事件，此處的理解不同於大多數研讀的結論，不是要標奇立異，而是對經文的理解。差異也許就在翻譯上，英中文如是。更重要的是觀念的延續，這裡理解的耶和華是愛，摩西明白，當時祭司一族當中，如可拉，這人不明白，他是經過三代之後的人物，這位祭司之後挑起事端，是權力慾的引發，為私不是為公。

可拉的挑釁行為，目的，摩西在這文中有清楚的交待：

可拉是位尋求成功的人士，他似乎不甘於做利未一族，而是利未一族的領袖，像亞倫一樣。在現代心理的研究，人確實會有這樣的傾向。
