12. And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab. And they said, “We will not come up.

13. Is it too little a thing that you have brought us up out of a land that flows with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness, but must you also make yourself a prince over us?

14. Besides, you have not brought us into a land that flows with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance in fields and vineyards. Will you put out the eyes of these men? We will not come up.”

15. And Moses was very angry and said to the LORD, “Do not respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them, neither have I hurt one of them.”

16. And Moses said to Korah, “Stand before the LORD, you and all your company—you and they, and Aaron, tomorrow.

17. And every man take his censer and put incense in them, and let every man bring his censer before the LORD, two hundred and fifty censers, you also, and Aaron, each with his censer.”

18. And every man took his censer and put fire in them, and laid incense on it, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron.

19. And Korah gathered all the congregation against them to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And the glory of the LORD appeared to all the congregation.

20. And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

21. “Separate yourselves from among this congregation, so that I may devour them in a moment.”

22. And they fell upon their faces and said, “O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin and will You be angry with all the congregation?”

12. 此時，摩西讓人去找以利押的兒子，大坍和亞比蘭二兄弟，都回應：不會出席。

13. 你摩西以為自己好似王子，向我們發號施令，以流奶與蜜之地為名，想把我們在曠野之地給殺了，以為小事一椿。

14. 事實，你沒未曾領我們進入流奶與蜜之地，也沒有把田地和葡萄園給我們作產業。還說還要剜我們眼睛？我們絕不出席現場。

15. 摩西聽到這回覆，甚為無奈，自己對耶和華訴苦：都不曾接受過他們獻祭之物，領他們出來未曾收過一匹驢，也不曾傷害過一個人。

16. 摩西氣憤地對可拉說：明天一早，你和一幫民眾，連同亞倫都到耶和華面前聚集。

17. 各人手拿香爐，盛上未點的香枝一根，帶到耶和華面前，合共二百五十個爐。你摩西和亞倫也各拿一個。

18. 明天一早，各人拿自己的香爐，盛上香枝，同摩西、亞倫一起站在會幕前。

19. 可拉連同民眾聚在會幕前，耶和華的威嚴呈現於眾人當中。

20. 耶和華此時對摩西和亞倫心裡傳話：

21. 你倆從這幫人中分隔開來，我一刻便可消除他們。

22. 摩西亞倫倆就俯伏在地，說：耶和華你是眾民心中的大能者，會因一人犯事，轉向民眾發怒？

要了解這段經文的記述，必須了解情況是如何出現。

事件是因一人，可拉。他是利未一族第三代，是被選定為祭司一族，負責有關獻祭事宜，相信是有權選定方式，只要原則不變。他是出來挑戰摩西，是事實，動機多元，都與個人慾望有關。他是有能力的人，可以號召250人。須是少數，卻是引發起一連串事故，導致後來死了一萬多人。

Dathan and Abiram were Reubenite brothers and sons of Eliab, who served as prominent community leaders that incited a major rebellion against the authority of Moses and Aaron during the Israelites’ wilderness journey. Alongside the Levite Korah and 250 other chiefs, they challenged the divine appointment of Moses and Aaron, arguing that God’s leadership was excessive and that all the congregation was holy.

Their defiance resulted in immediate and severe divine judgment: the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, along with their households, tents, and all their possessions, directly in the midst of the Israelite camp. This event is recorded in Numbers 16 and Numbers 26, serving as a biblical warning against rejecting God’s chosen leaders, with their names often cited in later texts (such as Deuteronomy 11:6 and Psalm 106:17) as examples of treachery and the consequences of rebellion.

摩西是這事件的主要人物，是領袖，他是如何在此事應用出他的信仰原則去解決當前的難題？

摩西首先找和事佬：這二位不是善男。摩西找他們，有理由相信這事件的起因是從這呂便的二代挑撥第三代而來。若他們出面，事情就好辦。他們有這樣的回應，似乎簡接地承認確實有同感，他們這樣回應：12. 都回應：不會出席。13. 你摩西以為自己好似王子，向我們發號施令，以流奶與蜜之地為名，想把我們在曠野之地給殺了。14. 事實，你沒未曾領我們進入流奶與蜜之地，也沒有把田地和葡萄園給我們作產業。還說還要剜我們眼睛？我們絕不出席現場。

這是一場未曾釋放的世代因恨，可悲。

摩西對此事的想法：他們之前的因怨與他無關 (v.15)，他想自己沒有辨法解決，祗好讓耶和華親自出馬：v. 17 各人手拿香爐，盛上未點的香枝一根，帶到耶和華面前，合共二百五十個香爐。如何處理下文有續。

現代人一看，這是個什麼法子？不是人辦的事。摩西看，既是耶和華的事，就交回耶和華處理。摩西心想：耶和華處理，一下子就攪定。有理由相信，耶和華不會這樣處理，怎可一人犯事，禍及全眾？ 事實：不是摩西所期待。人，每個人都有自己該盡的責任。
