13. And Moses and Eleazar the priest, and all the leaders of the congregation, went forth to meet them outside the camp.

14. And Moses was angry with the officers of the army, the captains over thousands and captains over hundreds, who came from the battle.

15. And Moses said to them, “Have you saved all the women alive?

16. Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit sin against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and the plague was on the congregation of the LORD.

17. And now kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that has known man by lying with him.

18. But all the female children that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

19. And stay outside the camp seven days. Whosoever has killed any person, and whoever has touched any dead one, purify yourselves and your captives on the third day and on the seventh day.

20. And purify all clothing, and all that is made of skin, and all work of goats’ hair, and all things made of wood.”

21. And Eleazar the priest said to the men of war who went to battle, “This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD commanded Moses.

22. Only the gold and the silver, the bronze, the iron, the tin, and the lead,

23. Everything that can stand the fire, you shall make go through the fire, and it shall be clean. Nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of cleansing. And all that cannot stand the fire you shall make go through the water.

24. And you shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and you shall be clean, and afterwards you shall come into the camp.”

13. 摩西、祭司以利亞撒和民眾的首領們，出營去迎接戰士凱旋歸回。

14. 摩西卻甚為不滿地，面對凱旋回來的將領，像千夫長和百夫長等人。

15. 摩西對他們說：為何留下所有的婦人？

16. 你們不曉得，正是這些婦女，受巴蘭的鬼計安排，在毗珥引誘以色列人犯了色戒，得罪耶和華，就在民眾當中發生瘟疫。

17. 現在，要把所有年青男子，以及與他們有過性關係的，都不放過。

18. 留下未有嫁娶的婦女。

19. 大軍要留在營外七天。凡殺過人的，接觸過屍體的，要在第三天和第七天，為自己履行潔淨禮。

20. 所有衣服、皮製品、羊毛製品，一切木製品，等戰場物資都要潔淨。

21. 祭司以利亞撒對那些軍士們說：這是耶和華囑咐摩西的規定：

22. 擄來是金、銀、銅、鐵、錫、鉛等物，

23. 要經受火的潔淨。經不起火的物品，要用水潔淨。

24. 個人的衣物要在第七天全然潔淨，才可以回到營地。

這網址論及的安排與上文當時的用意是否相關要考究一下。

摩西是否因為前因，導致對婦女存留產生過慮，從而下達殺盡成年婦女的命令就不得而知。若是，有其可慮的因素。卻是這樣的決定是因為個人而非耶和華。當時的人似乎對 [教化] 這樣的觀念不認識，導致決定的時候，以王者之憂為重，加上當時文化是戰爭文化，什麼都由王者決定，人性有良善，只在某種條件下，如太平盛世。

在公平的原則，慈祥和公義是理應平衡發展。那麼因為有前因，就是之前受到任意的性行為產生不良的結果，死了許多男丁，這時婦女被殺也就無何避免，有無辜者在當中，也在所難免。耶和華不會為人下這樣的決定，相信是摩西經過考量的結果，以防後患。

自潔，這樣的行為在當時處境，似乎有種提示：殺人是不潔的行為。因為不潔。自潔，那就合乎耶和華的要求，耶和華是聖潔。人不該殺人，為了公義和自存的空間，不潔是迫於無奈。自潔也許是在提醒，保持個人清醒，不要濫殺。

這種自潔的觀念，與今日用 [善良慈悲] 逃避公義的責任，二者比較，更顯得自潔這儀式存在的重要。以色列人依舊保存這樣的儀式，相信有保留這種意義的必要。
