25. And the LORD spoke to Moses saying,

26. “Count the prey that was taken of man and of animal, you and Eleazar the priest and the heads of the fathers of the congregation.

27. And divide the prey into two parts: between those skilled in the battle who went out to war and between all the congregation.

28. And levy a tax for the LORD from the men of war who went out to battle: one person out of five hundred, of the persons and of the beef cattle, and of the donkeys, and of the flock.

29. Take from their half and give it to Eleazar the priest, a heave offering to the LORD.

30. And from the children of Israel’s half you shall take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the beef cattle, of the donkeys, of the flocks, of all kinds of animals, and give them to the Levites who keep the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD.”

31. And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the LORD commanded Moses.

32. And the booty, the rest of the spoil which the men of war had captured, was six hundred and seventy-five thousand sheep,

33. Seventy-two thousand beef cattle,

34. Sixty-one thousand donkeys,

35. And thirty-two thousand persons in all of women that had not known a man by lying with a male.

36. And the half-share—the portion of those who went out to war—was in number three hundred thirty-seven thousand, five hundred sheep.

37. And the LORD’S tribute of the sheep was six hundred and seventy-five.

38. And the beef cattle were thirty-six thousand of which the LORD’S tribute was seventy-two.

39. And the donkeys, thirty thousand, five hundred of which the LORD’S tribute was sixty-one.

40. And the persons were sixteen thousand of which the LORD’S tribute was thirty-two persons.

41. And Moses gave the tribute, the LORD’S heave offering, to Eleazar the priest as the LORD commanded Moses.

42. And of the children of Israel’s half, which Moses divided from the men who warred;

43. Even the congregation’s half was three hundred thirty-seven thousand, five hundred sheep,

44. And thirty-six thousand beef cattle,

45. And thirty thousand and five hundred donkeys,

46. And sixteen thousand persons;

47. Even of the children of Israel’s half, Moses took one portion in fifty, of man and of animal, and gave them to the Levites who kept the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD—even as the LORD commanded Moses.

48. And the commanders who were over thousands of the army, over the captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, came near Moses.

49. And they said to Moses, “Your servants have counted the men of war who are under our charge, and there is not one man of us lacking.

50. And we bring an offering for the LORD, what every man has found, of jewels, of gold, chains and bracelets, rings, earrings and tablets to make an atonement for our souls before the LORD.”

51. And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from them, all crafted things.

52. And all the gold of the offering that they offered up to the LORD, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand, seven hundred and fifty shekels,

53. For the men of war had taken spoil, every man for himself.

54. And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tabernacle of the congregation, for a memorial for the children of Israel before the LORD.

25. 耶和華曉諭摩西：

26. 你和祭司以利亞撒並族長，去清點擄來的人和牲畜及一眾財物。

27. 將擄來之物分成兩份，一份給將士、一份給民眾。

28. 要從出征作戰的人數，以五百為一單位，從將士撈獲的牲畜，每五百人中抽一份獻給耶和華。

29. 給予祭司以利亞撒，是從這五百抽一的總數，其中一半以舉祭方式獻給耶和華。

30. 民眾與將士平分那一半，會從當中五十分之一，給予負責祭事的利未人。

31. 摩西和祭司以利亞撒就按耶和華囑咐，如實執行。

32. 點算得來擄物計有：六十七萬五千隻羊，

33. 七萬二千頭肉牛，

34. 六萬一千頭驢，

35. 三萬二千名婦女，不曾有婚嫁的。

36. 將士那一半份額，就是五百抽一所得的擄物，當中有三十三萬七千五百頭羊。

37. 歸耶和華為獻祭用的羊六百七十五隻。

38. 牛是三萬六千頭，其中歸耶和華七十二頭。

39. 驢是三萬零五百匹，其中歸耶和華六十一匹。

40. 人口是一萬六千人，其中歸耶和華三十二人。

41. 摩西屬耶和華舉祭之物，交祭司以利亞撒，正如耶和華所吩咐的。

42. 當時摩西從以色列男丁人數中的一半，徵用為將士。

43. 剩下分給那一半的民眾，計有三十三萬七千五百隻羊，

44. 牛有三萬六千頭，

45. 驢有三萬五百頭，

46. 人有一萬六千，

47. 摩西從民眾領取那一半的擄物當中，取其五十分之一，給予看守會幕的利未人，是照耶和華所吩咐的。

48. 摩西面對著幾千人大軍，當中的千夫長和百夫長，齊集在他面前。

49. 對摩西說：已經清點了出兵人數，一個都不缺少。

50. 現在把各人的擄物獻如耶和華，計有珠寶、金子、鍊子、手鐲、戒指、耳環、飾牌等物，獻給耶和華為供物，為我們的靈魂贖罪。

51. 摩西和祭司以利亞撒接收了他們供物中的金和藝術品。

52. 千夫長和百夫長獻給耶和華全部的金子，共一萬六千七百五十舍客勒。

53. 這個數量是扣除了戰鬥人員當得的份。

54. 摩西和祭司以利亞撒從千夫長和百夫長手中收下金子，帶進會幕，在耶和華面前作為以色列人得勝的記念。

猶太人對這段事跡的理解：

1. 公平分配: 出戰的和民眾用多勞多得等分配原則。戰鬥成員代表整個民眾作戰, 因此利益屬於所有人。不是戰利品只屬國家，由國王令功行賞的慣例, 既是群體的事，出戰的分大份，作後勤支援的小份，這是家族參戰的模式不是國家體制。

2. 以奉獻儆醒心靈：摩西用總收獲當中，將士那以五百除一的方式，作為獻祭之物。當中千夫長和百夫長將金銀和有價物品全數獻上，用以為保守自己的心靈潔淨，就是不為金銀財物去戰，而是為公義。這事無法避免，卻可以用奉獻表明心跡。當時千夫長和百夫長獻上的金銀等物，共一萬六千七百五十舍客勒。

兵員是無須如此履行，是因為決定權不在他們當中，不須付上責任。

這場戰事有別於一般的人與人之間，或國與國之間的爭戰。它是回歸信仰應許之地，換句說話是一場以色列人爭取回到應許之地，為屬靈爭戰。

為此，批判這場爭戰，就不會應用人打人國打國那樣的私慾為動機的分析，它有屬靈方面，是對應信眾在現實生活的寫照。

如今現實中的屬靈爭戰包括些什麼？

它有三樣可以從以色列人出埃及當中體會的事實：

1. 生存中的現實：食物和水

2. 社會的地位：亞倫和米利暗

3. 情慾來的瘟疫：瘟疫的出現，它可以是利用弱化人的分辨力，做成思想混亂、可以是製造生化武器、可以是顛倒黑白…等。瘟疫是什麼？大規模的影響範圍，一時間無葯可救，影響數代人的生活。

與這些瘟疫對抗，就是把生命用作武器，對不義作出反擊，有了金錢，獻上為耶和華所用而不是為己安享富貴 (意思是不為利慾分心)。
